Skin-deep

Ugly or beautiful? What do you see? Are both more than just skin deep?

I’ve been surrounded by a dark cloud of ugliness.
Superficial, judgemental and mean.
Silencing me, making me retreat inwards.

I see good in all people.
We share a world of brightness and love.
People only do unkind things because they are unhappy within.

But sometimes, for our own well-being, it’s best to walk away.
Wherever I go, I will find beauty in the world.
